Meet the Board

The Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce is made up of a volunteer board which meets on the second Thursday of every month to discuss member initiatives and the state of Byron Bay Business. 

Mark Ryan | President

A registered migration agent, Mark specialises in Australian immigration law, with a focus on business sponsorship and investment visas. 

Mark works with business investors globally as well as a range of SME’s and top tier corporate clients to allow them to attain their immigration goals.

Mark draws on his milestones across both the immigration law industry and the commercial construction engineering/project management industry to bring about strategic outcomes for his business clients. 

Having been involved in business across many critical, core areas his advice is invaluable to businesses both locally and globally. 

Growing up in the Tweed Shire, Mark has always spent a lot of time in the Byron Bay area and is passionate about living in a diverse and continually developing, business environment.

Cathy Levins-Byre | Vice President

As an accomplished activation strategist, Cathy is the principal of her own management consultancy business specialising in place management strategy and activation.

Having previously run her own event management business – Ecco Productions – for 10 years, she has over 25 years’ experience in the events industry across retail, fashion, food and beverage, corporate events, national conferences and government, the arts and community sectors, producing strategic activation from intimate and granular to large-scale festivals in the public domain.

Proud to have chosen the Shire as her home, Cathy believes in integrating with community in an authentic and purposeful way and hopes that her experience and passion for place making can contribute towards positive collective experiences within the region and beyond.

Kate Hardman | Vice President

In the last decade, Kate has worked across a diverse range of events that have seen her travel internationally for the private and public sector. She has extensive practical experience and knowledge in events management and production of both small and large scale events. 

Kate relocated from the Blue Mountains in 2017 to escape the rat race for a quieter life away from the urban sprawl. She loves the challenges and diversity of working in events and the dedicated, skilled people who are drawn to that industry. She is driven by her desire to be part of the community and facilitate positive change. Kate is passionate about using events to support social and community sustainability. 

Kate joined the board because she wants to be a part of a group of passionate, innovative professionals who have the ability to create positive change and support the local business community. She hopes to use her experience in events management to create events for the Chamber that are beneficial and inspiring to the members.

Cam Hogan | Treasurer

Cam has experience across many accounting areas including financial accounting, management accounting and 14 years as a CFO and she has a strong focus on improving business performance via implementing the right reporting for the business. With her no fuss and easy to understand manner, Cam can assist your business achieve its goals.

Belinda Kirkwood | Board Member

Belinda Kirkwood is the owner and Events Manager of Beach Restaurant
Belinda and her husband Ben Kirkwood have been in Byron since 1996, they purchased a restaurant in town called Toscanis which over the years turned into dish restaurant, an award winning fine dining restaurant in the heart of Byron Bay
In 2006 Belinda and Ben won the tender to take over the lease of the Beach Cafe at Clarkes Beach.
 
Over the last 15 years Ben and Belinda have created Beach restaurant, a business that employs 50 staff members and has a contribution to the local economy of 11.4 million dollars.
 
Belinda is a passionate business leader who loves shining the light on what Byron Bay has to offer.

Eddie Brook | Board Member

Since the age of 10, Eddie has been ingrained in the business community of Northern Rivers. Growing up in Byron, Eddie’s Parent’s (Martin & Pam Brook) started the family-owned business, Brookfarm, at the local Bangalow markets which have since grown to employ over 70ppl. 

Growing up within the business and on the family’s Macadamia farm, Eddie has always had a fascination with the food and agricultural industries. This led him to a  sales and marketing career within the premium spirit industry. 

Eddie returned home in 2016 to start a new family-owned business, Cape Byron Distillery, whereby the business now produces the award-winning Brookie’s Gin.

Eddie is excited to be a part of the ever-changing business landscape and help support the shire’s business community to grow and prosper for generations to come.

 

Diego Trigo | Board Member

For the past 10 years Diego has worked as Managing Partner, CTO, start-up founder, technical director and always as developer/builder across Melbourne and Sydney – now living in Byron Bay.

Expert in convergence of marketing, media, data, commerce, CMS and CRM related technology, Diego brings a wealth of knowledge in building and prototyping digital solutions.

Lately, Diego’s main focus has been on creating new businesses in uncharted territories, advising on technology strategy, ideation and roadmaps for start-ups.

Katee Blizzard | Executive Officer

Executive Officer Katee Blizzard is an American Expat who now resides in the Byron shire where she works with purpose-driven business owners to help them make a greater impact on the world.

Before moving to Australia, Katee worked at Walt Disney World’s Four Seasons as well as Universal Studios where she worked in everything from customer service to loss prevention, and beyond. 

Today, Katee uses her passion to support local businesses through her marketing consulting business, Social Greatness Co.

Katee joined the Byron Bay Chamber Of Commerce with a view to make an impact in the Byron Bay business community by creating new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and networking.
