Matt Williamson
President
For nine years Matt and his family lived in Bangalow, and he would commute off to the main cities for work most weeks until COVID struck. It was the clarity of finally being free of the burden of travel that inspired Matt to launch Good Cover. The inspired opportunity to bring his passion for community, the planet and his knowledge and experience in the insurance industry together into one business. Good Cover.
J’aimee Skippon-Volke
Vice President
Deeply embedded in the Byron Bay community for over 25 years J’aimee has been at the helm of the Byron Bay International Film Festival for over 18 years, championing the local film industry, showcasing XR technology and spearheading initiatives to foster creative innovation and diversity in tech. A Founding Member of the Byron Bay XR Collective, J’aimee has held Executive and Ordinary board positions for a number of local business and community organisations including: The Byron Bay Community Association/Byron Bay Reserve Trust (incorporating Byron Bay Community Centre, Byron Markets, the Crown land upon which it sat, Fletcher St Cottage, Byron Theatre); Screenworks which delivers programs for the screen industry across regional Australia; Byron Bay Visitors Centre – at the time Byron’s primary tourism organization, and HP’s Media and Entertainment Advisory Committee. She is passionate about helping foster a new identity for Byron as a hub for innovation and lifestyle balance.
Diego Trigo
Board Member
For the past 10 years Diego has worked as Managing Partner, CTO, start-up founder, technical director and always as developer/builder across Melbourne and Sydney – now living in Byron Bay.
Expert in convergence of marketing, media, data, commerce, CMS and CRM related technology, Diego brings a wealth of knowledge in building and prototyping digital solutions.
Lately, Diego’s main focus has been on creating new businesses in uncharted territories, advising on technology strategy, ideation and roadmaps for start-ups.
Kevin Hunt
Board Member
Kevin is a retired property developer who has lived in Byron since 2017. He remains active in the local business community as an investor in his son’s hospitality venue, Loft Byron Bay. Kevin also serves on the board of Destination Byron, contributing his time to local tourism and business initiatives.
Steve Doherty
Secretary/Public Officer
Extensive career in both B2C and B2B domains, assisting organisations drive growth through new product and service offerings, customer programmes, culture development, marketing and operational efficiency strategies. Outstanding track record in developing and implementing strategies for clients that build brands, generate strong ROI and deliver long-term stakeholder value.
Founding partner in DoMoCo – Marketing communications consultancy specialising in creating business momentum through change behaviour strategies and insightful communications.
Marketing communications experience is extensive including automotive, alcohol, finance, FMCG, telecommunications, QSR, government, recruitment, defence, corporates, utilities, fashion, retail, sports & event marketing, tourism and wagering.
Kath Vaubell
Board Member
Kath Vaubell has extensive experience leading commercial real estate departments for nearly a decade, with a prior successful career in corporate sales.
Regarded as an industry expert, our advice is often sought by professionals, including those in the legal, valuation and finance sectors. While we are not interested in claiming to be the biggest, our results speak for themselves. Since the inception of the commercial department in 2011, our business has grown 100% annually. We pride ourselves on establishing solid long term relationships with our clients and customise our service accordingly.
Kim Clinton
Treasurer
Kim Clinton is the Director and Founder of Clinton & Co Accounting, bringing over 10 years’ experience as a taxation accountant to her work supporting the Byron Bay business community.
What began as a small home-based practice has grown into a team of seven with an office at Habitat. Clinton & Co provides cloud-based accounting services with transparent, fixed-price packages covering tax returns, BAS returns, taxation advice, business structuring, tax planning, Xero setup and support.
Kim is particularly passionate about supporting women in business and tradies, providing practical, straightforward accounting advice to help business owners make confident financial decisions.
Benny Owen
Board Member
Benny is Co-Founder and General Manager of Social Remedy, Byron Bay’s social wellness club and recovery centre. Since opening, Social Remedy has grown into a destination for both locals and visitors, reflecting Byron’s reputation as a global wellness hub.
He is also the Founder of B3 in Brunswick Heads, a unique fitness and recovery concept combining strength and conditioning, breathwork and contrast therapy and Co-Founder of 108, an emerging wellness technology platform that connects wearable data with rewards for health and fitness-focused consumers.
Through his businesses, he brings extensive experience in entrepreneurship, hospitality, fitness, wellness and community building, along with a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across the Byron Shire.
